BLOG TWO - GOODBYE DAYS
Written by Aaliyah Strayhorne
To be honest, I do not know exactly how to feel about Carver and Jesmyn, his dead friend’s girlfriend. As I read, I kind of get the vibe that Carver may sort of be developing feelings for Jesmyn. While it is too early to decipher, it just seems like they are going to be more than friends by the end of the book. Initially Carver just needed someone to talk to, but I mean, they stayed on the phone with one another all night long. Personally, I’m only doing that with someone I have a crush on… It doesn’t sit right with me solely because Jesmyn is the girlfriend of one of his friends that died. Like, wouldn’t Carver be reminded of his friend every time he saw her? Wouldn’t he feel weird dating Jesmyn after the car accident? Taking his friend’s place after he died in a fatal accident? It just seems disrespectful. Imagine how his friend would feel, seeing Carver steal his girlfriend as soon as he passed away. If it were me, I’m not letting that slide. I’d honestly have to haunt them both for the rest of their life. But in all seriousness, I would truly hate to see Jesmyn move on so fast. Especially from her boyfriend's death. However, on the other hand, it is possible Carver and Jesmyn will end up just being friends. After all, they both lost the same important person in their lives, so it would make sense for them to gravitate towards each other and bring comfort to each other’s lives. To be there for each other since they have the ability to understand one another’s emotions. It seems logical. I would much rather prefer them to stay friends. Honestly, it's truly hard to make a prediction on whether or not Carver and Jesmyn will end up together. If I absolutely had to make a guess, I think Carver and Jesmyn will remain just friends, but honestly, I’m only saying that because it’s what I want to see from then. While I predict they will stay friends, I still have the thought they will end up dating. I guess I have to keep reading to find out.
